Tournament Sample 1
This tournament requires:
- 1 judge for every 2 Public Forum entries, but no fee
- Public Forum is the only event with this quota, meaning that a Public Forum judge covers only Public Forum.
- 1 judge for every 2 L-D entries, but no fee
- Varsity and Novice L-D share this quota, so one judge could potentially cover both if a school enters only one debater in each category.
- 1 judge for every 2 Policy Debate entries, but no fee
- Varsity and Novice Policy Debate share this quota, so one judge could potentially cover both if a school enters only one team in each category.
- 1 judge for every 5 Individual Events, but no fee
- This quota is shared by multiple events (Extemp, Expository, Oratory, Impromptu, Dramatic, Humorous, Prose, Poetry, Duo, Duet Acting, and Storytellling). That means that a school adds up all its entries in those events, divides by 5, and knows how many IE judges it needs.
- 1 judge for Congress, no matter how many entries, but no fee
- Student Congress consists of Houses One, Two, and Three, meaning that the Congress judge could covers any of those divisions of Congress.
- no judges for events labeled "OTH"
- This quota applies to Congress Presiding Officer, which doesn't need a seperate judge. It's merely set up as an event to allow schools to sign up students competing for Presiding Officer. You'll notice also that there's no entry fee, since students entered here would also be entered under Congress and charged that fee.
*Tournaments that don't require judges or charge for them often charge a base fee to cover the cost of their providing all the judges. This particular tournament charged a $25 base fee to all schools entering. If you want to charge a base fee for your tournament, please notify The Joy of Tournaments, and that will be included in your tournament's website.
